About

Hey there, I'm Freya! I'm a Yoga Sports Coach and a British Wheel of Yoga Level 4 Diploma teacher. My love of yoga started 8 years ago when I started doing yoga on my Wii. Its actually easier not having to balance on the funny white board, believe me! I started teaching while in 6th form when a few friends wanted to do some yoga during PE. We stretched, flailed and rolled about the common room floor once a week and everyone commented how much better they felt afterwards, whether it be more relaxed, de-stressed or stretched out. I then discovered Yoga Sports Science while at a convention in London and was instantly amazed at how different the training approach was to more traditional forms of teacher training. The main focus is on the body's anatomy and how an injury, or misfiring of a muscle, at one point in the body will affect many other muscles throughout the connecting tissues. This knowledge is then use to help athletes from any sport improve their preformance.

During my case study within my teacher training my athlete was recovering from a calf injury that stopped her from running a 5km race. By week 6 she had run 3.5km after 3 months of no training. Her yoga practice not only helped heal the cause of pain in her calf and the limp she had when the pain was unbearable, it strengthened her body, improved her breathing and boosted her confidence. She also commented how much better she felt in situations that used to be stressful and how using the breathing techniques were helping her to fall asleep at night. And this was only from 10 lessons, so just think was a constant practice can do to change your life!

My mission is to get yoga into the community to help EVERYONE. Young, old, healthy, unhealthy, athlete, counch potato, tall and short. I know that yoga has the power to help infinite ways and if I can help spread this power then I've done my job.

Namaste ॐ
